Trininetra: Envisioning Independence Through Advanced Visual Empowerment.

The problem Trininetra solves

Trininetra tackles a significant issue faced by blind and visually impaired individuals every day: the challenge of navigating their surroundings and accomplishing tasks without constant assistance. Traditional aids like white canes provide limited support, and current technological solutions, such as expensive VR systems, are often impractical for daily use. Trininetra steps in with an innovative approach. It uses cutting-edge object detection and people identification technology to give users real-time auditory feedback about their environment, boosting their independence and confidence. What sets Trininetra apart is its affordability, portability, and user-friendly design, making it accessible to a wide range of users. By addressing these crucial needs, Trininetra promises to make a meaningful difference in the lives of visually impaired individuals, offering them newfound freedom and autonomy.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Real-Time Processing Optimization: Fine-tuning the system for efficient real-time processing, especially with computationally demanding tasks like object detection, was crucial.
  2. Resource Optimization for PC Hardware: Optimizing the system to run efficiently on PC hardware while maintaining real-time performance demanded leveraging multi-threading and GPU acceleration.
  3. Environmental Adaptability: Developing adaptive algorithms capable of robust performance under varying environmental conditions without additional sensors was crucial.
  4. API Integration Complexity: Adapting to different syntaxes and query languages required careful consideration.
