We wished to create a mock trading web app using the SERN Stack (SQL, Express.js, React.js and Node.js) based on real-time data based on Finnhub API
The problem Tradify solves
We have an ambitious project that might help beginners in stock trading to learn the basic functioning of the financial market without actually risking their assets. It may also be useful to various financial groups to simulate stock trading.
Being real-time-based gives certain advantages to the user that might help polish their trading skills and help them know the behavior of a real stock market.
Challenges we ran into
Our journey in this hackathon, although very fruitful and enjoyable, was full of challenges too.
Some of them are mentioned below:
- Faced problems with asynchronous 3rd party API calls.
- Met with numerous challenges and errors while integrating our react frontend to the backend.
- Had to change design implementation strategy due to time constraints.
- Integrating all ends to ensure the integrity of the dynamic site hosting.
- The team members are new hackathon participants so it was new to work in a hackathon.
All these challenges were viewed as a learning experience and dealt with enthusiasm.
Continuous guidance by the SDSLabs members and healthy discussion among teammates helped us overcome these challenges effectively.
