We wanted to create something that would make the tourism sector more interesting and gamified. Like what if people could collect NFTs as they visit the places, maintain their spot on the leaderboard and do it in a competitive sports manner? That's what Tourizz aims to do. On Tourizz, you can visit the places in a city, we've taken bangalore for our reference. So, once you go to a place, like Cubbon Park for example, you can open the app, see it as a hotspot place on the explore section. And then scan the QR which would be places in the premises of Cubbon Park. Once scanned, it'll check if the user is scanning for first time. If yes, it'll mint a NFT for that place for the user. The scan count is updated and maintained in a smart contract. So, its a win-win for both parties. Users and travellers get to visit places and incentivize their travelling experiences, and the places admins could use the application for tracking the crowd and to advertise about their tourist places in a subtle and interesting manner. There will also be a places dashboard where one can see how many people have visited and scanned a specfic place.
Honestly, there were multiple challenges associated with the completion of the project. Once we were done with finalising our idea, we had to finalise the tech stack that we should be using. There was an initial confusing on deciding that, but eventually we decided on the tech stack and began our coding and development. Then along the way we saw many different kind of issues, from failing code to unable to get faucet tokens. Also we were fairly new to Sui, so we had to make ourselves accustomed to the SDK and also build something useful in 24 hrs. It was much of a brain exercise but we're happy that it sort of turned out how we wanted it to be.
