A simple, decentralized to-do list on Base blockchain for tamper-proof task management.
Why are you participating for Based LatAm?
We're participating to explore how decentralized applications can empower communities in LatAm by providing transparent and accessible tools. Digital tools like a tamper-proof task management system help foster trust and accountability—essential values for growing local initiatives, startups, and collaborative projects. Blockchain education is also growing in LatAm, and this project serves as a simple way to introduce newcomers to Base and Web3 concepts.
What challenges are you focusing on?
Digital Accountability: Tasks and responsibilities are often managed inefficiently, leading to lost information or lack of transparency.
Access to Blockchain Tools: Blockchain can seem overwhelming for beginners, especially in regions where the concept is new.
Onboarding Barriers: Many dApps require gas fees or complex wallet setups, making them less accessible to new users.
How does your submission address this challenge?
Base TaskMaster makes task tracking and collaboration easy for individuals or small teams. By using the Base blockchain, tasks are immutable and publicly verifiable, meaning no one can tamper with records or shift accountability.
Simple Interface: The React-based frontend ensures that even non-technical users can manage tasks seamlessly.
Gasless Interactions (Optional): With Base's low gas fees, the dApp can become nearly free to use, encouraging wider adoption in LatAm.
Education by Use: It’s a lightweight and practical tool, ideal for onboarding users into the Web3 space without overwhelming them.
Challenges I ran into
Smart Contract Deployment on Base Testnet: Initially, setting up the correct Base Goerli network parameters was challenging, as documentation for some endpoints was sparse. This was resolved by consulting community forums and other developers.
React and Web3 Integration: Handling asynchronous blockchain calls within React's component lifecycle caused some UI lags. We overcame this by implementing proper useEffect hooks to ensure smooth data loading.
Private Key Management: During development, safely managing private keys in .env files required extra attention to avoid security risks.
Cheer Project
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
