ToddlAR: where learning is fun, wholesome and augmented

The problem ToddlAR solves

The Covid crisis has tested us all as a nation but the impact it has had on young children is appalling. The kids who are in the learning stages of their lives are made to sit at home in front of electronic devices and are asked to grasp it all from their online lessons. Kindergarteners are merely aged between three to four years and to expect of them to learn everything from online classes without any proper visualization seems like a joke in itself.
Due to these online lessons, children have started losing interest in academics and this has resulted in a sharp decline of their attention capacity. The aforementioned statement can further be cemented by the fact that there is very little interaction with the students while attending classes online. Our website solves this issue by introducing education using Augmented Reality (AR).
Visualization helps in understanding certain concepts better that are otherwise just mentioned in books or written on a board. For toddlers, it is toilsome to make them visualize or imagine certain things until they’re able to see it for themselves. To everyone’s dismay, this had not been possible due to the virtual lessons. Since every complication leads to an opportunity, we have made online visualization possible by integrating AR in the field of education.
It’s anyway not possible to show everything to students in real life. For instance, exotic animals and birds cannot be shown to students effortlessly unless they’re taken to a zoological park, but we have assembled a lot of educational stuff needed for a kindergartener at one place. This makes it uncomplicated for any kid to visualize and learn the concepts at one platform using AR. This will also grab their interest since learning is made fun for them.
Toddlers who are being taught to write the alphabets may face some difficulty understanding but the three dimensional view of alphabets will give them a better perspective and increase their chances of learning it in a simpler way.

Challenges we ran into

  1. It was difficult to integrate the AR models into our website.EchoAR made it easier.
  2. Designing the website was also a big challenge as we have to design the UI as per the requirements of the toddlers.
  3. Designing/finding the models of AR was difficult, after thorough googling we get over it.
  4. The AR models that can be displayed per page were limited, We have to purchase the premium version of
    the vectary software for it.
  5. The AR models take time to load.
