Helix bridges the gap between startups and Investors by providing a platform where startups can publicize their work and attract potential funding opportunities.
The problem The Helix solves
It is said that "Jo dikhta hain wahi bikta hain" which translates to if you want to sell, your presence must be felt the market. India's Startup environment is flourishing and one thing that each startup, bigger or smaller, need is having a good portfolio.
They need to attract potential customers and investors with a promise that they are going to solve problems for customers and while doing so earn money for their investors. But to generate this confidence and trust each startup need to have a good portfolio. Then again they also need to be in the same room with customers or investors to showcase their portfolio.
This is exactly what we are trying to address. From social sites like Instagram, Linkedin we know that this approach works. Things that glitter on these platforms certainly get attention and opportunities. If we could develop a similar platform for startups this could work as their social media. A platform where startups can showcase their work and investors can find tap the potential of next big thing.
Investors have to study a startup before they can make the judgement of investing their money and other resources. and startups also want to bring out the best things about them in front of investors.
Helix will serve as the bridge between startups and investors. Where Investors can widen their search for more potential investments and startups pitch there without explicitly being in the same room with the investors. A Win-Win for both of them.
Challenges we ran into
Once we identified the problem, the major challenge was to come up with a solution which can be scaled. We can call this design phase. We tried to contact startups to understand in deep their needs and how they can be addressed. Getting in contact was itself tough. Once we gathered enough information we needed to cut down to major impact features which we will be focusing on. This process was overwhelming because when you are surrounded by multiple good ideas its hard to cut down.
Getting in contact with investors to understand their side and requirements was even tougher and we still could not get hold of them and this single experience reminded us why our idea is important.
In the coding phase, things started getting real. The major problem is designing the user feed. We are trying to come up with an algorithm to populate user's feed with relative content. Similiar to how social media sites like Instagram or Linkedin do. This will be the biggest challenge we will need to tackle.
