The problem The hatch solves
Many VR games lack short, intense gameplay loops that deliver both immersion and challenge. Our game fills that gap by offering a high-stakes, time-limited experience that keeps players engaged, alert, and fully immersed—perfect for quick, adrenaline-pumping sessions.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge we faced was optimizing performance in VR while maintaining realistic visuals and mechanics. High-quality textures, dynamic lighting, and real-time interactions like gun mechanics were putting a heavy load on the system, causing motion lag and dropped frames—which are critical issues in VR.
We tackled this by:
Baking some lighting instead of using all dynamic lighting.
Reducing poly counts on background models without sacrificing visual fidelity.
Implementing level streaming to load only necessary assets during gameplay.
Profiling with Unreal’s VR performance tools to identify and fix frame bottlenecks.
we developed all the core mechanics sepratly and migrted together, and faced isses while doing so.
This let us maintain an immersive, smooth VR experience without compromising on the visual or gameplay quality.
