Carbon markets exist. Carbon Credits and assets have been attempted to be brought on-chain through the ReFi movement. But these Carbon assets are fragmented on-chain with multiple protocols working parallelly. No real market has evolved to unify the value of carbon in the market. The idea is to use these tokenized carbon emissions and create a voluntary peer-to-peer carbon trading platform, which can reduce carbon footprint while solving the issues and limitations of conventional regulated carbon markets.
Initially, my thought process was to use Curve Finance contracts to build my protocol as a soft-fork of Curve. But I quickly realized that the Vyper language used to build that protocol was not familiar to me. In search of alternatives i found that Balancer had all the tools and features needed for me to make a protocol much powerful than I initially imagined.
Integrating with Balancer has been a challenge. Although I was able to make a pool easily and do swaps via their sdk, interfacing with their contracts to join a pool was a challenge and I've been stuck on it for past 2 weeks. The developer help in Discord is very slow and usually non-existent, which really caused an issue while i wrote the contracts for my protocol. I still need help with those and its not complete.
