Tetris On-Chain

The problem TetraChain solves

I’ve built an on-chain Tetris game that combines classic gameplay with blockchain-powered rewards. The game has two modes:

Free-to-Play Mode 🎮

1)Anyone can join without staking tokens.

2)Players compete on the leaderboard, and the top 3 scorers at the end of each cycle are rewarded with rare NFT crowns.

3)These NFTs act as digital trophies and carry scarcity value since only a limited number can be won.

Staked Mode 💰

1)Players enter by staking tokens into a shared prize pool.

2)The competition runs on a 24-hour cycle, and at the end, the player with the highest score takes the entire stake pool.

This creates a high-stakes, skill-based challenge where both gaming skill and strategy matter.

By running the game fully on-chain, every score submission, stake, and reward distribution is transparent, verifiable, and trustless. This ensures fairness while making the game both fun and competitive.

In short, it’s a fusion of nostalgic gaming + NFT collectibles + DeFi-like reward mechanics, designed to engage both casual players and competitive risk-takers.

Challenges we ran into

I built an on-chain Tetris game with two modes: in Free-to-Play, the top 3 players win rare NFT crowns, and in Staked Mode, players compete for 24 hours and the highest scorer takes the whole stake pool. The entire project was developed and shipped inside a moving train, which came with unique challenges like slow and unstable internet, limited power, and constant movement.

To overcome these, the game was made with all gameplay running locally so it stayed smooth without waiting for blockchain confirmations. I used signed score proofs and a relayer system to queue and retry transactions whenever the network was available, ensuring fairness and transparency on-chain. NFT crowns were stored on IPFS and batch-minted to save gas, while staking and payouts were handled through efficient smart contracts.

Despite the constraints, I managed to ship a product that blends classic gaming, NFTs, and DeFi mechanics into a fair, transparent, and fun on-chain experience — all built under the toughest conditions.

But due to the restriction we have come up with this.
