Motify
Accountability on the blockchain.
The problem Motify solves
Motify addresses the common challenges of lacking motivation and accountability when pursuing personal goals. It solves this by introducing a financial incentive through a staking mechanism where participants commit USDC. The use of smart contracts ensures "transparent, trustless execution," and API integrations for activity tracking create a neutral, verifiable system that holds all participants to the same standard of accountability.
Challenges I ran into
During development, we encountered several technical challenges:
- Integrating the "Sign-In with Base" functionality.
- Signing the user's OAuth connection with their wallet signature.
- Implementing the smart contract logic.
- Ensuring users receive Motify tokens upon successful completion of a challenge.
- General challenges related to developing for both the Base MiniApp environment and standard web browsers.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?
Motify's unique value proposition is its combination of several key concepts:
Decentralized Accountability: It uses smart contracts for transparent, trustless execution, ensuring that challenge rules are enforced without a central authority.
Verifiable, Real-World Progress: The dApp integrates with external APIs like GitHub, Farcaster, and WakaTime to automatically and objectively track user progress.
Crypto-Economic Incentives: Participants stake USDC, which is pooled and shared among successful participants, creating a tangible financial incentive to succeed.
Native Web3 Integration: It is built as a Base Mini App optimized for the Farcaster ecosystem, which allows for seamless interaction within a native Web3 social environment.
Who is your target customer?
Our target customers are individuals who are driven to achieve personal or professional goals but struggle with consistency and accountability. Initially, Motify focuses on builders, developers, and creators, people who already use platforms like GitHub, WakaTime, or Farcaster to track their work. Through these integrations, we directly reach users who value measurable progress and onchain transparency.
As we expand integrations to fitness platforms like Strava or Fitbit, we aim to unlock new audiences in health and lifestyle, reaching anyone who wants to turn self-improvement into verifiable action. Early feedback from peers and hackathon participants confirmed that this concept resonates with people who seek structure, motivation and social accountability. Users who genuinely want to achieve more in life.
Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?
Forfeit (https://www.forfeit.app/)
Users commit to habits, stake money, submit evidence (photo/timelapse/GPS) and if they don’t follow through, they lose the money.
StickK(https://www.stickk.com)
A goal-setting platform with “commitment contracts” where users can pledge money to succeed/fail and often donate to charity if they fail.
Beeminder (https://www.beeminder.com/):
A goal-tracking tool where users set measurable objectives and monetary pledges; if they go off track, they pay.
Our differentation:
Onchain Transparency & Automation:
Unlike Forfeit, StickK, or Beeminder, which operate on centralized systems, Motify runs onchain on the Base network.
Challenge creation, staking, refunds, and donations are executed through smart contracts, ensuring trustless, transparent and verifiable outcomes without needing third-party oversight.
Built-In Token Incentives & Ecosystem
Motify doesn’t just penalize failure, it rewards success.
A portion of platform fees mints Motify tokens, which can be used as discounts for future challenges (10 000 = 1 USDC), creating a positive feedback loop that encourages consistent engagement rather than one-off participation.
Social and Impact-Driven Accountability
Users don’t just risk losing funds, failed stakes are automatically donated to charities or meaningful causes, and public or group challenges encourage friends, teams, and communities to grow together.
This makes accountability both socially engaging and socially impactful, not just transactional.
What is your distribution strategy and why?
Our distribution strategy focuses on three core pillars that align with how our users discover and engage with challenges:
Base community integration: We’ll leverage the Farcaster and Base Mini App ecosystem to reach onchain users who are already active in the Base network. This gives us immediate exposure to a tech-savvy audience aligned with Motify’s accountability and transparency goals.
Community-driven growth: Motify naturally encourages sharing and competition. Users will create private or public challenges with friends, driving organic, word-of-mouth growth as people invite others to join and prove their progress together.
Influencer and charity partnerships: We’ll collaborate with creators and organizations to launch public challenges tied to meaningful causes. This approach not only grows reach but also builds trust and creates a win-win situation for both parties.
