What’s your problem statement?
Earth's temperature is increasing rapidly because of a huge surge in greenhouse gas emissions.
People are unaware of how their day-to-day activities are leading to a negative impact on the planet.
But most of us are unaware of our contribution to this pollution. Also, we do not know what measures are to be taken
daily to reduce and offset our carbon footprint.
The problem TerraTrace solves
TerraTrace addresses the growing need for individual awareness and action in combating climate change. It provides a user-friendly platform to:

Challenges we ran into
- OCR Reliability
- Gemini Pro's OCR capabilities were inconsistent with different receipt formats
- Fallback to manual input was needed
- Complex receipt layouts caused parsing errors
- API Rate Limits & Costs
- Carbon Interface API has rate limits affecting concurrent requests
- Each flight calculation requires multiple API calls (round trips)
- API costs scale with usage
- State Management
- Complex state passing between forms through React Router
- Maintaining carbon footprint calculations across route changes
- Need to preserve form data during navigation
- Data Visualization
- Recharts library needed workarounds for vertical bar charts
- Inconsistent scaling between different carbon metrics
- Layout issues with responsive design
