The problem Tapyn solves
Challenge of Networking: During hackathons and networking events, individuals often struggle to connect with others due to the fast-paced environment. Many people are in a rush or preoccupied, making it difficult to exchange social media handles effectively.
Search Difficulties on LinkedIn: Finding a specific individual's LinkedIn profile can be challenging, especially when dealing with common names and the absence of unique usernames. This often leads to missed connections and lost opportunities.
Manual Information Exchange: Traditional methods of exchanging social media handles, such as typing them out or taking screenshots, are inefficient and prone to error. This can result in incorrect or lost information.
Lack of Post-Event Follow-Up: After events, attendees may forget or lose track of the connections they intended to follow up with, leading to missed networking opportunities.
Challenges we ran into
Logo Quality Degradation:
During the initial stages, we encountered an issue with adding our logo to the signup/login page. The quality of the logo was degrading as we integrated it, prompting us to revisit our design files and formats to ensure clarity and professionalism.
User Interface Design:
In our design discussions, we aimed to implement a specific type of user interface that included a virtual profile feature within the app. This feature was intended to carry all user information, such as name, qualifications, and social media handles. However, aligning the interface with our vision while ensuring usability posed significant challenges.
Firebase Integration:
We faced temporary difficulties when integrating Firebase for backend services. Initial configuration issues and understanding the database structure led to setbacks, but we rectified these problems through persistent troubleshooting and research.
GitHub Code Management:
While uploading our code to GitHub, we mistakenly deleted some crucial parts of our codebase. This oversight required quick identification of the error, recovery of lost code, and better management practices for version control moving forward.
