Take It Ease
Making mental wellness effortless
The problem Take It Ease solves
Mental health is becoming one of the most critical global challenges of our time. According to the World Health Organization, by 2050, nearly 50% of the global population is expected to experience a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. Stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout are no longer isolated issues — they’re part of everyday reality for millions. What’s worse is that these struggles are often left unaddressed due to stigma, lack of awareness, or limited access to professional help.
Despite the rise in conversations around mental well-being, most people still struggle to find consistent, simple, and accessible tools that can help them manage their mental state on a daily basis. Many wellness platforms are cluttered, overwhelming, or focus too much on tracking instead of healing. Therapy can be expensive or intimidating. Meditation apps often demand high levels of motivation, time, or understanding, which many users — especially those already overwhelmed — don’t have.
We live in a fast-paced, always-online world. We're constantly bombarded with information, pressured to perform, and disconnected from ourselves. This environment is breeding chronic stress, and yet, we are not taught how to manage it. Students, professionals, homemakers — everyone is affected. The current systems often wait until people are in crisis before providing help, rather than offering daily mental health support that prevents these crises in the first place.
That's where Take It Ease comes in.
We believe mental wellness should be as natural and easy as brushing your teeth — part of your daily routine, not a chore or an afterthought. People don’t need another app that tells them what they’re doing wrong or asks them to "do more." What they need is a gentle, calming companion that makes it easier to pause, breathe, and feel better — even for a few minutes a day.
Take It Ease solves this problem by creating a space that helps people relax and reset — without pressure, w

Challenges We Ran Into
While building Take It Ease, we faced several technical and conceptual hurdles, but one of the most notable challenges was:
Balancing Simplicity with Functionality
Our goal was to create a clean, calming, and minimal user interface — something that feels like a breath of fresh air. However, as we started integrating different features like mood tracking, audio therapy, journaling, and animations, the design started getting cluttered and performance took a hit.
The Problem:
Too many features were competing for space and attention.
Some animations and soothing UI elements were slowing down the app, especially on mobile devices.
The app started feeling more like a tool and less like a relaxing experience — which went against our core mission.
How We Solved It:
Refactored the UI to prioritize the core mental health actions — only the most essential features stayed on the main screen.
Used lazy loading and code splitting to reduce initial load time.
Simplified animations using lighter libraries and optimized image/audio assets.
Conducted user feedback sessions to understand what actually helped users feel calm — and removed distractions accordingly.
