SwiftCare
Your Turn, Right on Time.
The problem SwiftCare solves
Visiting a local clinic shouldn’t be guesswork - but it is.
“Patients waste time. Clinics lose efficiency. Trust erodes.”
Neighborhood clinics are the first line of care for millions, yet patients face unknown wait times, unreliable service information, and unclear triage. Clinics rely on manual logs, phone calls, and ad-hoc messaging, making it hard to manage surges and provide predictable service.
Patient pain points:
- No visibility into real wait times or walk-in availability.
- Unpredictable delays that cause missed work, classes, and stress.
- Poor communication channels; repeated phone calls yield little clarity.
- Newcomers and non-native speakers struggle to find and access care quickly.
Clinic pain points
- Manual, error-prone queue management (paper, WhatsApp, memory).
- Overcrowding during peaks and underutilization during off-peak hours.
- Staff time wasted answering status inquiries instead of focusing on care.
- Lack of simple analytics to optimize staffing and operations.
Consequences
- Increased patient stress and wasted time.
- Reduced clinic efficiency, throughput, and revenue.
- Fragmented local healthcare access, especially for students, seniors, and low-tech clinics.
Opportunity
A lightweight, map-first real-time platform that shows nearby clinics, live queue status, and direct communication channels will restore transparency, reduce wasted visits, and help clinics manage demand and improve care delivery.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges we ran into:
- Scarce ground-truth queue data - most clinics use paper/WhatsApp, creating a cold-start problem.
- ETA accuracy is hard: service times vary by case, doctor, cancellations and multi-doctor setups.
- Clinic adoption friction - staff are busy and prefer low-tech channels; onboarding must be near-zero effort.
- Real-time consistency issues and race conditions require atomic Redis/Lua operations and reliable fallback paths.
- Third-party limits (WhatsApp/SMS templates, map/weather API rate/cost) constrain messaging and recommendations.
- Privacy & compliance burdens - PII handling, consent flows, encryption and KMS are mandatory from day one.
- Scaling and cost pressure - real-time infra (Redis, sockets, push) needs autoscaling and degraded-mode strategies.
- We addressed these with conservative UX (estimate-first), WhatsApp/SMS bridging, Redis atomicity + Mongo snapshots, and a pilot-first rollout.
