Challenges I ran into
Challenges I Ran Into
1. Secure & Verified Swapping System
Creating a system where users could safely exchange items without monetary involvement was tricky. We had to implement a trust-based model with user verification, feedback, and optional delivery points.
Solution: We added authentication, basic KYC features, and a simple reputation system to ensure safer transactions.
2. Matching the Right Users
Pairing people with complementary needs (someone giving away an item vs. someone needing it) was challenging due to diverse data and user behavior.
Solution: We used tag-based filtering and location-aware matching to increase relevance and reduce mismatches.
3. Preventing Spam & Inactive Listings
Old or duplicate listings made the platform feel cluttered.
Solution: We added an auto-expiry feature for listings and a report system to keep the swap space clean and active.
4. Image Upload & Optimization
Ensuring smooth item photo uploads without slowing down the app was a hurdle.
Solution: We used cloud storage with size optimization and lazy loading for better performance.
