Why are you participating for Based LatAm?

Base is currently the biggest Blockchain Network in the L2 ecosystem thanks to it's accesibility, easy onboarding and all the oportunities and tools to develop projects.

We see a valuable opportunity to participate in Base LATAM to develop a solution that will be helpful as a public good for humanity and the planet. By using Base's low tx fee costs, speed and security we can onboard a sector that urgently needs to be operating with Blockchain technology: The Effective Altruism ecosystem.

In México, we face corruption, climate disasters and poverty in different levels, but also there's an organized society movement on going that is working hard to help those in need and create a better country. Sadly, the efforts are usually ineficient due to bureaucracy or mismanagement.*

This is a situation that mexicans and LATAM countries live everyday and by providing a tool to reduce intermediaries and guaranteeing trust on the peacebuilding infraestructure, Supply Cycle could become a catalyzer that will create a better region for all of us.

As a team who knows from the heart the symptoms that corruption can bring to a society, and the urgent need of a tool to onboard and create trustful synergies between citizens and corporations that want to help, we put all of our efforts to make from this project a new reality that may bring fresh air for the countries and people who need it the most.

What challenges are you focusing on?

Our communities and NGO's faces huge challenges related to political and legal aspects that bring obstacles to the peacebuilding efforts that organized society are already making.

Additionally, the humanitarian aid supply chain usually encounters points of failure that make inneficient the efforts to gather donations and distribute them integrily.

To succeed, NGOs and the Effective Altruism sector need a tool that guarantees trust through transparency, traceability, and delivery mechanisms. Such a tool will foster greater participation in efforts to build a better world.

Using Base Network and Ethereum Attestation Services, we created Supply Cycle. This project is designed to establish direct communication and transparency between NGOs and suppliers (volunteers or donors), with the ability to track, demonstrate, and showcase the real impact these campaigns are having in their regions.

The main goal is to reduce failure points in the supply chain and develop a system that rewards the efforts of both parties, opening doors to resources and a supportive community.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Supply Cycle is a platform that leverages the Base Sepolia Network to create a transparent and verifiable record of humanitarian aid supply chains. This is achieved by using attestations, which are essentially public records of actions. The process begins with the registration of a smart wallet to ensure complete ownership of data. Next, NGOs are registered, followed by the attestation of new campaigns with specific milestones and delivery timelines. As campaigns progress, NGOs declare their achievements, the status of the supply chain, and the involved parties. Finally, impact reports are attested to provide a clear account of results.

On the suppliers' side, they can search for active campaigns to volunteer or collaborate through monetary or in-kind donations. After contributing, users will be able to track the NGO's attestations and rate them with an Integrity Score, based on punctuality, milestones reached, and the impact generated as per their declared KPIs.

We plan to introduce the Talent Passport's system, allowing users to earn points towards their Builder Score by actively participating as suppliers on the platform.

Supply Cycle also includes a forum, providing a space where all ecosystem participants can share ideas, mechanisms, projects, insights, and more, promoting collaborative peacebuilding efforts.

Future partnerships with Regenerative Web 3.0 projects could enhance reward systems, creating a holistic and sustainable impact platform to address the inefficiencies currently present in the sector.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was related to our team's capabilities to develop such ambitious project with just one Developer, responsible of creating a clear and friendly platform designed for an intuitive navigation through our blockchain tool kit. AI as ChatGPT, Claude and V0.Dev were part of the tools that helped us in front of the workload we had to complete this mission on time.

Webpacks from some libraries (i.e. Leaflet) were not compatible with OnchainKit so we had to find other providers which effectively were able to deploy on Vercel.

Integrating the attestations mechanisms to make them functional through the web page is a challenge we are still working on. For now, we resolved it with direct links to EAS/SCAN schemas.

The most important obstacle is how to communicate effectivily the benefits of this tool to a population that doesn't speak the "Blockchain" language. But we are working on that!
