SuiPaper is a decentralized news journal that presents the latest updates on the Sui blockchain. Readers can access high-quality articles by staking 250 Sui, with the option to withdraw their stake after one month. Companies looking to publish articles must stake 10,000 Sui for a period of 6 months. Additionally, users can mint an evolving NFT based on the amount of Sui staked, unlocking exclusive benefits depending on the tier.
SuiPaper tackles the issue of expensive monthly subscriptions for premium content. Users can access curated, high-quality articles without losing their funds, as they can withdraw their staked tokens if they no longer wish to access the content. This model ensures sustainability through staking interest while maintaining high editorial standards by selecting trusted writers. Furthermore, the act of staking not only provides access to the journal but also helps secure the Sui blockchain, contributing to the network’s security and decentralization. The evolving NFTs (Tier 1 and Tier 2) provide additional value:
We faced several technical hurdles during development. The most significant was generating and interacting with smart contracts, particularly for the staking mechanism and creating the evolving NFT. It took multiple iterations to get the NFT contract working properly, but we succeeded. Another challenge was implementing zkLogin, which allows users to create a wallet via Google authentication, simplifying onboarding. This integration required fine-tuning to ensure smooth functionality with the Sui blockchain.
