With rising awareness around climate change and environmental impact, many people want to make sustainable choices but struggle with the complexity of tracking and reducing their ecological footprint.
EcoTrack aims to empower individuals by providing them with tools to measure and reduce their carbon footprint, track sustainable habits, and learn how their lifestyle choices impact the environment.
This project bridges the gap between awareness and action, enabling people to make informed choices and reduce their environmental impact.
Data Collection and Accuracy: Accurately calculating users’ carbon footprints required a robust system to gather data from various sources, including daily activities like commuting, waste generation, and energy usage. Ensuring data accuracy without invading user privacy was a significant challenge.
User Engagement and Retention: Encouraging users to form and stick to sustainable habits required a thoughtful, engaging design. Developing features that maintained user interest—such as daily challenges, community goals, and habit reminders—took careful planning and iteration.
Education without Overload: Providing valuable information without overwhelming users with complex data on sustainability required creating an approachable, engaging interface. Balancing educational content with user-friendly design to make the app both informative and easy to use was challenging.
Scaling and Integrating with External APIs: To allow users to track activities like travel emissions or home energy usage, we integrated with external APIs. Managing the technical demands of real-time API interactions and ensuring scalability as the user base grew presented ongoing challenges.
