The problem StableFlow solves
We noticed how businesses in Nigeria struggle with receiving payments for goods and services onchain due to all the complexities involved with getting fiat currency after receiving crypto payments. We have created a POS system that helps businesses receive stablecoin payments and get fiat deposited into their traditional banks or POS systems immediately, thereby eliminating any risks or complexities involved in the process. With StableFlow, businesses have an additional method to receive payment from customers, they get their local currency instantly and onboarding is seamless for both tech-savvy and non-tech-savvy business owners.
Challenges I ran into
Building StableFlow came with several technical and operational challenges:
- API Integrations: Integrating with local payment service providers (PSPs) was a major hurdle. Many PSPs lack well-documented APIs or provide inconsistent responses, making it difficult to standardize payouts across markets. We had to build flexible adapters to handle varying formats and error handling.
- Refunds and Reconciliation: A key challenge was ensuring accurate reconciliation in cases where the PSP was unavailable or failed to process a transaction. We built a smart retry logic and a manual reconciliation layer that tracks failed transactions and flags them for review or automatic refund, helping prevent user loss or double spending.
- Reliable Off-Ramp Access: Finding dependable off-ramp services that support stablecoins and offer liquidity in target countries was difficult. Some providers lacked real-time availability, while others had compliance or KYC hurdles. We vetted and tested multiple providers to ensure redundancy and stability.
