Our web app obtains the best possible group photo by blending multiple photos. Not everyone can pull off being photogenic in every group photo. This innovation will entirely solve that issue.
The problem Squad-Photogenic solves
From a group of photos, the app aggregates best representation of every face and produces a new image which has the best face of everyone. The features that we are focusing on as of now are drooping eyelids (a.k.a blinking) and faltering smiles (People prefer snaps of them smiling!). The final image will have a mesh of faces in which everyone's eyes are open to the maximum extent found in input set of photographs and thee brightest smile. The resulting images look natural enough so that dashes any worry of people who hate photographs that reflect fake attributes like mismatched contours (We have practically none of those.)
Challenges we ran into
Detecting faces and drawing conclusion about smile from the mouth contours on the face were the most challenging parts of the research phase of the project followed by coming up with the project idea itself! Having less experience in android tech stack, optimizing the I/O to/from the server is proving to be time consuming also.
Sacrificing sleep in favor of achieving our project goal is mostly how we overcame these challenges. We carried out several experiments during the research phase of the project. A comprehensive research during the inception of the project helped streamlining our further steps in order to achieve the aim of the project.
