Spotlight
Where someone shines every day
The problem Spotlight solves
In the fast-growing onchain social space, one of the biggest challenges is visibility and engagement. Creators and communities often struggle to capture attention, while users find it difficult to discover meaningful content or participate in a fun, rewarding way.
Spotlight makes this process easier and safer by turning social interactions on Farcaster into a simple game. Instead of competing for random attention, users are encouraged to like, recast, reply, or follow within the last 24 hours to earn tickets. These tickets can then be used to be featured in the mini app.
This solves two problems at once:
For creators: it boosts authentic engagement and highlights their content.
For users: it provides a clear, transparent, and rewarding way to interact with the community.
By leveraging Base and Farcaster, Spotlight makes participation frictionless and ensures that engagement can be measured and rewarded in a verifiable way.
Challenges I ran into
One of the biggest challenges I faced was understanding the Farcaster ecosystem. At first, it was not obvious how frames, casts, and interactions could be leveraged to build meaningful user flows. I had to spend time learning the primitives, experimenting with examples, and testing how to reliably capture engagement events.
In the end, I overcame these challenges by breaking things down step by step, studying community resources, and testing small prototypes before connecting everything together. This process not only helped me ship the project, but also gave me a much deeper understanding of how the Farcaster + Base ecosystem can unlock new types of social experiences.
