splitmaster
Split your bills seamlessly among your friends.
The problem splitmaster solves
Splitting bills after a dinner, trip, or night out with friends is still awkward and inconvenient - especially when money and friendships mix.
Today, people often:
• Manually calculate shares in chat groups or notes apps
• Chase friends for money via DMs or payment requests
• Switch between messaging, calculators, and payment tools
• Lose track of who has paid and who hasn’t
This creates friction in otherwise great social moments - and often leads to delayed repayments or uncomfortable reminders.
Splitmaster turns this traditionally awkward process into a fun, social, and transparent experience - letting people split and settle bills directly within their social posts, without ever leaving the conversation.
Challenges I ran into
Logic bug in the Mini-App template
During our work with the Base-Mini-App template we encountered a bug that prevented the app from starting properly. With the support of Samuel Huber, we identified the issue and the fix was applied to the GitHub template.
Finding the right ChatGPT API prompt
Creating a prompt that made @splitmaster’s replies feel funny, human, and context-aware was surprisingly hard. Early versions sounded robotic or disconnected from the post. Through multiple iterations, we refined the tone into something that feels natural and playful.

What is your product’s unique value proposition?
Unlike traditional payment or split apps, Splitmaster merges social interaction and financial coordination in one seamless on-chain experience.
-
Social + Financial: Splitting happens directly where the moment is shared — no switching between apps.
-
One-tap crypto settlement: Instant USDC payments on Base, without intermediaries or delays.
-
Built-in trust: Every payment is recorded on-chain, removing confusion and awkward reminders.
-
Frictionless UX: Users are already connected through Farcaster — no extra setup or logins needed.
Who is your target customer?
Our target customers are:
• Socially active members of the Base and Farcaster Community.
• Friend groups who want transparent and instant payment settlements
• Communities and group travellers who split costs
Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?
Main competitors:
• Splitwise
• PayPal
While both address payments or expense splitting, neither integrates naturally into social experiences or leverages blockchain transparency.
Here’s how Splitmaster differs:
-
Integrated with social posts: Works directly inside Farcaster casts — just tag friends and split instantly. Splitwise and PayPal require switching apps and manual setup.
-
On-chain USDC payments (Base): Fast, low-cost, and transparent; competitors remain centralized.
-
One-tap, wallet-connected experience: Settle in one tap via existing Farcaster wallets; others require logins and redirects.
-
Transparent and verifiable: Blockchain-based, trustless, and auditable. Competitors rely on closed ledgers.
-
Social and playful: Fun @splitmaster replies turn a payment into a shared moment. Splitwise is functional; PayPal is purely transactional.
What is your distribution strategy and why?
We’re focusing on community-driven growth inside the Farcaster and Base ecosystems - where our target users already live.
Our strategy includes:
-
Direct integration with Farcaster Frames, enabling instant discovery and sharing through casts.
-
Social virality via @splitmaster replies — every use becomes a shareable interaction.
-
Partnerships with Base ecosystem projects and Farcaster channels to co-promote use cases.
-
Community engagement by running small campaigns, memes, and bounties to drive organic adoption.
Moreover, we aim to improve the user experience to attract users beyond the Base and crypto-native community.
