SolMate aims to revolutionise the landscape of weddings. It makes the process of a marriage easier by allowing two people to make their bond official over the decentralised web, since the blockchain exists perpetually, and all the data there remains permanent, it ensures that the purpose of a wedding registry is fulfilled without a waste of resources and time. All it requires is that the user invites their significant other to the app, once they have been onboarded, the app then connects both the users and they can then mint their NFT which is their certificate of marriage.

** Future plans**

• We plan to make this easier by creating an SDK which utilises the existing tech stack and allows users to create similar social DApps over the Solana blockchain.
• Include a feature where users can have crowd-funded weddings.
• A NFT marketplace which serves a purpose of buying gifts for the newly weds.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges we faced were:

• minting the NFTs on the Solana blockchain using the existing ecosystem
• creating a better user experience with various wallets available for authentication and a basic user schema to make the app more user friendly.
• learning curve for Solana was high, with very brief tutorials
