The problem Solar Powered Smart Irrigation System solves

Solar powered smart irrigation systems are the answer to the Indian farmer who generally face the problem of frequent power cuts or non-availability of grid supply.This system is designed in such a way that the solar panel change its direction (East to West) according to the intensity of light which results in effective production of solar power.This solar power is then stored in the battery which is used by the farmer for his farming needs. This system consists of solar powered water pump along with an automatic water flow control using a moisture sensor and a webpage which can be accessed from anywhere using which the farmer can turn ON or OFF auto watering system(plants are watered automatically when water is required), check soil status(wet or dry), water the field, turn OFF the water pump and check the last watered date and time.The system also monitors and records the humidity and temperature of the farm which can be viewed on the webpage. This system is best suited for Drip Irrigation. Drip Irrigation is the most efficient way of providing water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops , It delivers water and nutrients directly to the plant’s root zone, in the right amounts, at the right time, so each plant gets exactly what it needs, when it needs it, to grow optimally.This system conserves electricity by reducing the usage of grid power and conserves water by reducing water losses.

Challenges we ran into

Interfacing Raspberry pi with laptop : - We overcomed this problem by operating the pi using SSH.
Operation of Twilio API : - We overcomed this problem by using different mobile carriers.
