This project detects people and measures the distance between them to figure out whether social distance is maintained and gives an alarm if they don' and also sends SMS to concerned covid authorities

The problem Social Distancing Detector solves
Our project detects whether social distancing norms are maintained or not in a cost effective manner. The current system is manual while our project is fully automatic as it calculates the distance between people and raises an alarm as well as sends SMS to concerned authorities if social distancing is not followed.
Our project also maintains privacy as it does not store the images and videos of people.
It is cost effective and uses the second hand/old mobile mobile phone cameras or pre-installed CCTV cameras.
It will help in reducing the number of COVID cases
Challenges we ran into
Challenges:
- To make our project generic for both day and night use.
We used some image processing techniques to preprocess the image before detection. - As team members were scattered across India we faced difficulty in coordinating and integerating our project but using online platforms such as discord we successfully completed our project.
