Securing Land Ownership on the Base Blockchain

Why are you participating for Based Africa?

Our participation for Based Africa is driven by our passion for empowering communities in Africa and our belief in the transformative potential of blockchain technology. We see Base as an ideal platform for building decentralized solutions that can address the unique challenges faced by the African people

What challenges are you focusing on?

We are addressing the following key challenges:

Land disputes: Lack of clear ownership records and disputes over land ownership are common problems in many African countries.
Inefficient land registration: The traditional land registration process is often slow, bureaucratic, and prone to corruption.
Limited access to land markets: Many people in Africa lack access to formal land markets, hindering economic development and property ownership.

By leveraging the Base network, our project aims to:
Establish secure land ownership: Provide a decentralized system for verifying and recording land ownership, ensuring transparency and security.
Streamline land transactions: Automate and simplify the buying, selling, and renting process, reducing the need for intermediaries.
Expand access to land markets: Enable individuals and businesses to participate in the land market more easily, regardless of their location or financial resources.

How does your submission address this challenge?

RWAChain is a decentralized land registry platform built on the Base network. Our platform provides the following key features:

Tokenized land ownership: Land ownership can be represented as digital assets on the blockchain, making it easier to buy, sell, and transfer.
Smart contracts: Automated contracts ensure secure and transparent transactions, reducing the risk of fraud and disputes.
Decentralized data storage: Land records are stored securely on the blockchain, making them tamper-proof and accessible to all authorized parties.

The potential impact of our project is significant. By providing a secure, transparent, and efficient land registry system, we can:
Reduce land disputes: Establish clear ownership records and prevent fraudulent land transactions.
Streamline land transactions: Simplify the buying, selling, and renting process, saving time and money for all parties involved.
Empower communities: Provide individuals and communities with greater control over their land assets and promote economic development.

Challenges I ran into

Technical Challenges:
Smart contract development: Developing complex smart contracts on the Base network required a deep understanding of Solidity and blockchain technology like the Mareketplace contract. We overcame this challenge by leveraging existing open-source libraries and seeking guidance from the developer community.

Data storage: Storing land records and cadastral data with our blockchain platform was a technical hurdle. We addressed this by creating Filehosting APIs like IPFS and Pinata cloud storage.

User interface design: Creating a user-friendly interface that caters to both technical and non-technical users was a challenge. We addressed this by focusing on simplicity and clarity in our design. though our design is not fully developed, as some minor web2 functionality are not fully integrate yet like the Signup and login. We plan to release the fulll version when we ready for mainnet production.

Additional Features

Our project were started from scratch, though the time is limited for us to provide a full development. We are able to present our Demo where all necessary functionality are working and integrated onchain.

Cheer Project

Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
