Slice - Onchain commerce protocol
During the buildathon we added several new features to Slice, offering a faster and better onchain checkout experience across all our stores.
The problem Slice - Onchain commerce protocol solves
- Facilitated onboarding and checkout by integrating with Coinbase Smart Wallet and offering gasless purchases.
- Users can now easily complete their checkout in 2 clicks or a few seconds, both when purchasing online and in real life.
- Improved shipping information retrieval (via Google Maps API) and saved shipping addresses drastically reduce checkout time when delivery is required.
- A list of orders allows for quick verification of purchases and item deliveries.
- Checkout via frames enables purchasing anything from the Farcaster feed in seconds without leaving the app.
These enhancements add to the existing features offered by the protocol, such as payment splitting and onchain actions.
Challenges I ran into
Handling shipping info in a permissionless environment requires careful considerations. We opted for a solution where shipping info can be partially retrieved and a signature is required to display them in full.
