The problem Skillista - Empowering Women through Skills solves
Skillista is a platform dedicated to empowering women through skill development and job opportunities. Through Skillista, women can access a diverse range of courses to learn new skills and enhance their capabilities.
With Skillista, women not only acquire these in-demand skills but also gain access to job listings and freelance opportunities directly on the platform. They can explore job roles that match their newly acquired skills, apply for positions, and showcase their portfolios or projects to potential employers or clients.
Our platform is designed to provide women with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their careers and achieve their goals.
By breaking down barriers and providing equal access to education and job opportunities, Skillista contributes to women's economic empowerment, leadership development, and overall success.
Challenges I ran into
Responsive Design Challenge: Making sure the website looks good and works well on phones, tablets, and computers was hard. Sometimes, things didn't look right or work the same way on different devices.
Solution : Implemented a mobile-first approach and utilized Tailwind CSS to create a responsive and adaptive layout.
Data Sync Challenge: Keeping the information on the website and the server updated in real-time was tricky.
Solution: I used Firestore to handle this job well. I also made changes to how we ask for information to make things faster.
File Uploads Challenge: Allowing users to upload files like resumes without any issues, such as file size limits or losing data, was a bit tricky.
Solution: I used Firebase Storage to save files securely and make sure they didn't get lost. I also added checks to make sure the files were the right size and didn't cause any problems.
By finding solutions to these challenges, I made sure that Skillista works well, looks good on all devices, keeps information updated, allows secure logins, and handles file uploads smoothly for our users.
