Grievance Redressal App for redressing hostel complaints of hostel students.

The problem SJCE Hostel Grievance Redressal App solves

  1. This App turns the whole system paperless. Earlier Hostel used to maintain different registers for different categories of complaints ( e.g Sanitation, Food, Civil, Electrical ). This app provides a tab-based system for viewing different categories of complaints.
  2. Sometimes, hostel authorities face the problem that they find the door locked when they arrive, because of various reasons. Our app provides functionality that the student can select a time slot when they will be available.
  3. Students can also upload photos which will help to address the problem more efficiently and quickly.
  4. Often there is a miscommunication between wingmates which can lead to the complaint not getting reported. As it is a public platform this app solves this problem too.

Challenges I ran into

Some of the challenges were

  1. How to keep the data safe from unauthorized access. To deal with this issue we used Firestore as a reliable measure.
  2. Stakeholders i.e Hostel authorities wanted Multilingual support for our app, but we delayed it for a short time.
  3. We were also skeptical about data spamming. Therefore, we have restricted to one complaint per day.
