The problem SJCE Hostel Grievance Redressal App solves
- This App turns the whole system paperless. Earlier Hostel used to maintain different registers for different categories of complaints ( e.g Sanitation, Food, Civil, Electrical ). This app provides a tab-based system for viewing different categories of complaints.
- Sometimes, hostel authorities face the problem that they find the door locked when they arrive, because of various reasons. Our app provides functionality that the student can select a time slot when they will be available.
- Students can also upload photos which will help to address the problem more efficiently and quickly.
- Often there is a miscommunication between wingmates which can lead to the complaint not getting reported. As it is a public platform this app solves this problem too.
Challenges I ran into
Some of the challenges were
- How to keep the data safe from unauthorized access. To deal with this issue we used Firestore as a reliable measure.
- Stakeholders i.e Hostel authorities wanted Multilingual support for our app, but we delayed it for a short time.
- We were also skeptical about data spamming. Therefore, we have restricted to one complaint per day.
