The problem Sidebets solves

Prediction markets on public events such as Polymarket solve for real-time opinion and polling. However, most predictions are done in a social setting between friends.

Currently, there isn’t a seamless way for people to create custom markets for their friends and family to speculate on.

Sidebets allows people in group chats to:

Enter these with positions with custom amounts
All transactions are processed onchain with Degen on Base

Since its launch in just one FBI community called onchain rookies 14 days ago, Sidebets has led to

400+ transactions on Base

Sidebets makes social groups feel more social and fun.

Our roadmap now is to do a beta run with 10 communities and take Sidebets on Farcaster. Bets placed through casts, a leaderboard with a farcaster sign in, and just more fun on decentralized social.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest hurdle was solving for resolution of created market. Since it's social prediction markets we've made the decision entirely on the market creator to resolve the bet.
