Empowering Rural Art with One Click and One Voice

The problem ShilpoSphere solves

🛠️ The Problem

India—especially Bengal—is a land of artists
Today’s generation—people like us—have access to social media. We click, we post, we go viral. We get likes, we get recognition.

But what about the countless rural artisans of Bengal?
What about the housewives who create magic with clay, or the grandfather carving wood dolls in silence?

  • ❌ They are incredibly talented, yet invisible.
  • ❌ They don’t know how to post. They can’t write captions.
  • ❌ They don’t know hashtags. Most don’t even know how to type
  • ❌ Their art often goes unseen and uncredited

✅ What ShilpoSphere Does

🎨 ShilpoSphere helps rural artists:

  • Speak product details in Bengali
  • Snap a photo of their handmade art
  • Auto-generate captions + hashtags
  • Post on Facebook in one tap

🚀 Why It’s Powerful

  • No typing needed — just voice
  • Empower rural women & homemakers
  • Reach more people, earn more
  • Preserve local art, proudly shared

Challenges we ran into

🐞 Challenges We Ran Into

🔐 1. Facebook Page Integration

We faced issues with Facebook Graph API authentication, especially while posting on behalf of users.
Fix: We resolved this by setting up proper developer roles, switching to Facebook test users, and ensuring the Instagram/Facebook pages were linked to Business accounts.

🗣️ 2. Bengali Voice Input Accuracy

Translating spoken Bengali into clean text was tricky — regional dialects and accents caused misinterpretations.
Fix: We fine-tuned the voice recognition using Whisper API and filtered common Bengali phrases with custom post-processing.

📱 3. Simplifying the UI for Non-Tech Users

Our target users are often first-time smartphone users. Too many steps or buttons caused confusion.
Fix: We designed a minimal one-screen flow with voice-only input, preview, and post — all in Bengali language with large icons.
