SheShield addresses the issue of women's safety by providing a comprehensive solution that empowers them in times of need. It tackles the problem of personal security by offering quick triggers and multimedia alerts to alert emergency contacts and authorities. By leveraging various activation methods like voice commands, power button clicks, and phone shakes, SheShield enables women to quickly send their location, along with audio and images, to predefined contacts, ensuring swift assistance and support. This application aims to enhance women's safety and provide them with a sense of security and confidence, ultimately helping to mitigate potential risks and incidents.
During the development of SheShield, we encountered several challenges that required careful consideration and problem-solving. Some of the challenges we faced include:
Sensor Accuracy: Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of sensors, such as the accelerometer for phone shake detection, was crucial. We had to fine-tune the sensor parameters and implement robust algorithms to distinguish between intentional triggers and accidental movements.
Voice Recognition: Implementing voice recognition functionality presented its own set of challenges. We had to address variations in voice patterns, background noise, and different accents to ensure accurate and consistent detection of the SOS command.
Data Privacy and Security: As SheShield deals with sensitive information like location data and multimedia content, ensuring the privacy and security of user data was a significant challenge. We implemented robust encryption techniques and followed best practices for data handling and storage to protect user information.
Integration with Emergency Services: Integrating the application with emergency services, such as contacting the nearest police station, posed a challenge. We had to ensure compatibility with different emergency response systems and establish reliable communication channels to transmit SOS alerts.
User Interface and Usability: Designing a user-friendly interface that is intuitive and easy to navigate was essential. We conducted user testing and gathered feedback to refine the user experience, ensuring that even in stressful situations, users could quickly and easily trigger the safety features.
Overcoming these challenges required diligent research, thorough testing, and iterative development to deliver a robust and reliable safety solution in the form of SheShield.
