SFA - Scholar Funding Decentralized App
A blockchain-based scholar funding platform to make education funding more transparent, efficient, and accessible
The problem SFA - Scholar Funding Decentralized App solves
Drawing from the perspective of university students like ourselves, we have leveraged the advantages of blockchain technology to tackle the enduring challenges present in traditional educational fundraising. Our aim is to construct a safer and more transparent educational fundraising system.
Traditional campaigns grapple with issues such as transparent fund handling, accountability, and limited global reach. In order to overcome these challenges, our platform aims to address the complexities of fundraising by providing an intuitive interface for organizers and contributors, ensuring transparent and efficient fund collection. With tracking mechanisms, contributors can see how funds are used, building trust with a secure integrated payment mechanism, streamlining the donation process, and ensuring funds directly benefit recipients.
In addition, our app breaks down geographical barriers, enabling global support for students regardless of their location in fundraising efforts. It empowers a more equitable educational landscape by bridging funding gaps. By simplifying donations, securing payments, and reducing reliance on third-party systems, our decentralized app enhances the integrity and security of scholarship funding, safeguarding against illegal activities and maintaining funding integrity. In summary, our blockchain-based platform enhances the integrity and security of scholarship funding, creating a safer environment for charitable giving in education.
Challenges we ran into
Our challenge was to build the project within a limited time despite joining the hackathon late, while also being newcomers to the blockchain, necessitating us to study theory and code both the backend and frontend concurrently.
Our team encountered hurdles while studying traditional fundraising in education, uncovering limitations in transparency and safety. We aimed to utilize blockchain's strengths to overcome these obstacles.
With a tight project deadline, our team faced the challenge of not being able to deploy a new front-end like BOS. We decided to demo the project on Next.js and Scaffold-eth 2 instead, a temporary solution to present our idea. Additionally, the essence of our project idea revolved around incorporating DAO and Chainlink automation into the disbursement process, although, due to time constraints, we were unable to fully realize this aspect.
While not having implemented all the features yet, our team devoted our best efforts towards incorporating essential functionalities to bring our team idea to life. Our primary focus was to capture the big picture by implementing fundamental features. Although there were still elements left to be developed, we strived to achieve a fluent demonstration of our concept, showcasing the potential of our idea.
