The problem Sessions solves
Africa’s digital population is over 500 million internet users by 2025.
Africa’s youth driven creator economy was valued at $5.10 billion in March 2025 and is estimated to reach $29.84 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.7%. Source: Techpoint Africa.
Rising Crypto Curiosity:
Africa is emerging as a key region for cryptocurrency adoption, driven by factors such as high inflation, limited access to traditional banking, and the high cost of cross-border remittances. Innovative drivers include high mobile penetration and a young, tech-savvy population. Source: Finextra Research, Avax Network.
While presenting huge market opportunities, these trends underscore Africa's readiness for digital platforms that cater to its mobile-first, youth-driven, and increasingly crypto-curious population. Unfortunately, onchain adoption remains hindered by key barriers. As Onchain Music and founders of Base Sessions which has brought hundreds of artists onchain through our “Base Sessions City Tour” across multiple cities in Nigeria and have held Base Sessions Mint Parties having in attendance cumulatively over 1,800 creators, we have learned directly from African creators and designed Sessions to solve key peculiar challenges facing creator-onchain adoption, especially in Africa.
Sessions dApp addresses a clear need in the African onchain content streaming space by eliminating key entry/adoption barriers for both creators and fans.
Here’s how it solves core problems:
-
Problem: Complex Onboarding & Wallet Setup
Most onchain platforms require users to create or connect external crypto wallets — a confusing process for Web2 users.
Sessions’ Solution:
Instant, automatic wallet creation for all users — no prior crypto knowledge needed. -
Problem: Limited Earning for Fans
Traditional and onchain platforms often reward only creators, leaving fans out of the value loop.
Sessions’ Solution:
A Mint-and-Earn model where fans get up to 10% of each mint value — turning support into shared profit. -
On-ramping Problem: Difficulty in On-ramping for New Users.
Buying crypto is difficult in many regions (especially Africa) due to lack of access or technical knowledge, especially for web2 users who have no onchain experience (who make up the larger percentage of our target market)
Sessions’ Solution:
An AI agent that lets users buy crypto directly all within the app, using local currencies. -
Problem: High Friction, Limited Accessibility
In Africa, many Onchain platforms often require VPNs, browser extensions, or specific wallets, limiting use, especially for new onboardees
Sessions’ Solution:
Fully browser-based, no VPN or downloads required. Works seamlessly on any modern browser. -
Monetization Problem: No Direct Monetization Per Upload
Many onchain content platforms require a certain level of interactions or mints volume for creators to start earning
Sessions’ Solution:
Creators earn up to 70% of every mint directly — instantly and transparently.
In Summary
Sessions simplifies onchain for everyone — with zero-setup wallets, easy crypto onboarding, shared earnings, and seamless access. It’s a truly inclusive onchain streaming platform tailored for creators and fans in underserved markets.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges we faced during development was creating a seamless native wallet system that would allow users to interact with the platform without needing to connect to third-party wallets. This was critical for simplifying onboarding, especially for non-technical users and web2 audience, but technically complex to implement. We overcame this by collaborating and leveraging wallet SDKs that support secure, automatic wallet generation.
Another challenge we are currently facing is with our Ai agent that should allow users buy crypto directly from the app using their local currencies. We have not been able to effectively integrate this yet, however, we are on the path to solving this problem within the next few days or weeks.
Another significant obstacle was introducing the platform to non-Web3 users, particularly creators around the world who are unfamiliar with blockchain, especially in Africa. To address this, we focused on simplifying the user experience — integrating an AI agent to guide users through crypto purchases in their local currency within the app and designing a clean, intuitive interface that hides the complexity of Web3 technology. Our goal is to achieve massive onchain adoption while making signups/onboarding easy by achieving a familiar interface.
These solutions were pivotal in making Sessions accessible, user-friendly, and ready for mass adoption.
