IN-SCOPE :
--> AI-Powered Mental Health Support: It provides real-time emotional support, guidance to users when traditional therapy isn’t available.
--> 24/7 Availability: Always accessible, offering confidential support anytime users need it.
--> Personalized Insights and Summaries: It generates reports for therapists with summaries of patient progress which can streamline therapy sessions
--> Inclusive Access: Supports users with social anxiety, speech/hearing impairments, or language limitations.
--> Real-Time Collaboration with Therapists: It enables collaboration between the AI and therapists by providing them with relevant user information to enhance professional therapy.
OUT OF SCOPE :
--> Complete Replacement of Therapists: Serenity Harbor is not a replacement for traditional therapy but just an extension to fill the gaps in service. It cannot offer clinical diagnoses or prescribe medications.
--> Critical Crisis Intervention: While it provides emotional support, Serenity Harbor is not a substitute for emergency services or in-person crisis intervention for individuals in acute distress.
--> Long-Term Therapy: The AI is designed to handle short to medium-term engagements but it is not intended to manage long-term therapeutic relationships or handle complex cases without human intervention.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES :
--> Global Expansion: The platform can be scaled to support multiple languages and locations, offering mental health assistance all around the world, especially in remote areas.
--> Partnerships with Healthcare Providers: Serenity Harbor can be integrated with healthcare systems, providing mental health solutions within existing frameworks. Integrating Serenity into employee wellness programs, hospitals, or educational institutions could offer wider support.
Challenges I ran into
One major challenge we encountered was managing conversations that led into serious or sensitive topics, such as suicide. Initially, I found it difficult to tackle with external guradrails libraries. I have used nemo guardrails and guardrails-ai but they were too time consuming and were increasing the latency of the overall system. Later got to know about the safety measures provided by the Gemini AI model which blocks the harmful content or words. Using this the performance was better overcoming the problem.
