Your personal AI stress companion, here to help you find calm in the chaos of everyday life.

The problem Serenity solves

Stress is suffocating India’s workforce and students. A 2022 National Institute of Mental Health survey found 74% of Indian professionals face weekly stress, with 1 in 5 calling it “unmanageable.” Students have it even tougher—80% of college kids reported academic stress in a 2021 Times of India study, crushed by exams, deadlines, and cutthroat competition. But here’s the kicker: when stress piles up, most can’t—or won’t—turn to friends or family. Either no one’s there to listen, or they’re too drained to care. And spilling your guts to a psychiatrist? Out of 100 stressed-out people, only 20-30 bother. Why? Fear of judgment, shame about “what will society think,” or just not wanting a stranger in their head. Stress locks them in, and silence makes it worse, leaving millions stuck with nowhere to turn.
By seeing all these problems, we came up with one solution called Serenity. How does this help?
Companion Mode: In this, the AI acts as your curious friend and will listen to your problems just like your normal friend. You vent (“Work’s a nightmare”), and the AI asks, “What’s the worst part?” listens to your reply (“My boss”), then suggests, “Man, that’s rough, can you tell me what happened exactly?”
Quick Relief Mode: In this, you will have four tabs, namely Breathing, Grounding, Movement, and Sounds. These are present to keep your mind calm, and some meditate to give you quick relief.
Analytics Mode: In this it gives you complete information on how many sessions you took, what your mood was, how many minutes of the session you took, what your improvement status was, and an overall AI-generated personalised highlights. (Currently it is in development phase, but showed rough idea on how it will be visible).
Future Prospects

Challenges we ran into

Building Serenity wasnt a easy cakewalk for us. Take the UI: our first stab looked like a relic from the dial-up era, dull, clunky, and guaranteed to scare off anyone already feeling down. We knew it had to change. We stepped back and thought, “What does a stressed or depressed person need when they land here?” Warmth, comfort, a vibe that says, “You’re not alone.” So, we scrapped the old design, swapped in softer colors think gentle blues and cozy yellows, and smoothed out the layout. It’s not perfect, but it’s a hell of a lot more inviting now, and that shift came straight from putting ourselves in their shoes.

Then came the chat feature. Originally, we built Serenity as a text-only deal, type your woes, get a reply. But we realized: if you’re depressed or overwhelmed, typing can feel like climbing a mountain. Hesitation kicks in, who wants to bare their soul to a blank box? So, we pivoted to add a voice option, letting users just talk it out. We tried Google Text-to-Speech first, aiming for that friendly, human touch. Problem? It lagged 3-5 seconds of dead air between replies, enough to kill the mood. We dug into it, tweaking API calls and buffering, but the clock was against us; decoding the delay needed more time than 36 hours allowed. Instead, we switched to the browser’s built-in text-to-speech. It wasn’t as slick, but we played with the audio rate and pitch, slowing it down, softening the tone, to mimic a caring friend. It’s not spot-on yet (still a tad robotic), but it’s close enough to feel personal, and it works.
