Wildlife Intrusion Detection and Protection System
The problem SentinelField solves
Significant Problems Solved:
- Eliminates blind spots in remote farmland by enabling 24/7 automated monitoring.
- Detects animal/human intrusions before damage occurs.
- Automates alerts via SMS, phone call, high-frequency sound to reduce response time.
- Converts captured frames into temperature-based maps for better detection in low-light/vegetation conditions.
- Uses PIR-triggered wake-up to drastically reduce power consumption in remote areas.
- Provides a low-cost alternative to expensive commercial CCTV + thermal systems.
- Integrates sensing, vision, ML, alerts, deterrence and fence control into one unified system.
- Minimizes false alarms by validating PIR triggers with ML image classification.
- Reduces human–wildlife conflict by detecting and deterring animals early.
- Displays real-time fence activity/status on LEDs and LCD, reducing blind maintenance issues.
- Provides both the farmer and the admin with relevant dashbaords for keeping a track of the the collected/detected data.

Challenges we ran into
- Received a faulty LoRa module, causing communication failures and forcing a complete reassessment of the original long-range design.
- Had to shift from LoRa to ESP32–ESP32 communication, requiring restructuring of the data transfer workflow and rewriting major parts of the communication logic.
- TCP socket and MAC-level communication attempts failed due to handshake issues, packet drops and inconsistent peer discovery between devices.
- Stabilized communication using Wi-Fi + Flask, which provided a reliable transport layer and resolved all previous connectivity challenges.
- Faced difficulties in thermal conversion simulation, including inaccurate intensity values and the need to fine-tune parameters for realistic cooling behavior.
