Sentinel Protocol
Flight Delay Insurance
The problem Sentinel Protocol solves
Parametric flight delay insurance, fully on-chain.
A traveler buys a policy for a specific flight. If that flight is delayed beyond a threshold or cancelled, they receive an automatic payout — no claim forms, no manual review, no adjuster. The contract decides and pays out by itself.
The problem with existing travel insurance:
- Claims are manual, slow, and frequently disputed
- Insurers hold float for weeks while processing
- Travelers often don't bother claiming small delays
- No transparency into how payouts are calculated
What this protocol does differently:
- Policy terms are fixed in the smart contract at purchase time
- A decentralized oracle network feeds real flight data on-chain
- Payouts trigger automatically when the data conditions are met
- Capital is pooled by underwriters, not held by a single insurer
Challenges I ran into
I had 2 issues -
-
working with pure solidity with HTS is hard , but I did my best doing HTS native erc20 - https://github.com/enderNakamoto/flight_hedera/blob/main/contracts/src/MockUSDC.sol
-
I had issues with verifying some of the contracts
Use of AI tools and agents
I used claude code and cursor a lot to code/think/design
