The problem SeniorsAangan solves
The problem we are addressing with our platform is the lack of a centralized and comprehensive system for students to connect, communicate, and share experiences. Many students face challenges in navigating college life, whether it's academic struggles, social integration, or career planning. Without an efficient way to interact with peers and seek advice from more experienced seniors, these challenges can often feel overwhelming. Our platform aims to bridge this gap by providing a space where students can find support, guidance, and a sense of community to help make their college journey smoother and more fulfilling.
Challenges we ran into
One specific bug or hurdle we encountered while building the project was scalability issues as the user base grew. Initially, the platform was designed to handle a smaller number of users, but as more students and seniors joined, it became clear that the system needed to be more robust to handle the increased traffic.
To get over this hurdle, we undertook a thorough review of the existing infrastructure and identified areas that needed to be optimized or redesigned for scalability. This involved upgrading the server capabilities, implementing load balancing techniques, and optimizing the database queries to handle more data efficiently. We also introduced a content delivery network (CDN) to improve the delivery speed of static content like images and videos. After these improvements were implemented, the platform was able to handle a larger user base without compromising on performance or user experience.
