On-Chain Financing for Exporters
The problem SEATrax solves
Global trade moves fast, but exporter payments do not. Even after goods are shipped and delivered, exporters are often forced to wait 30 to 90 days to get paid, while production, logistics, and operational costs continue to run in real time. For many exporters, this delay is not just inconvenient—it directly limits growth.
Today’s export finance systems were built for a different era. Banks rely heavily on collateral, manual verification, and slow approval processes, treating exporters as high-risk borrowers rather than active contributors to global trade.
As a result, exporters face persistent challenges:
- Working capital locked between shipment and payment
- High interest rates and excessive collateral requirements
- Slow, manual approval processes that delay growth
SEATrax addresses this bottleneck by rethinking how export receivables are financed. Instead of waiting months for payment or navigating rigid banking requirements, exporters can convert real export invoices into secure, on-chain assets and access liquidity earlier in the trade cycle. These invoices are bundled into diversified liquidity pools, reducing risk and creating transparency for capital providers, while payments from importers—whether in fiat or crypto—are settled automatically through smart contract escrow.
With SEATrax, exporters can now:
- Access working capital earlier in the export cycle
- Reduce dependence on heavy collateral requirements
- Improve cash flow predictability and operational certainty
- Scale operations without being constrained by payment delays
In short, SEATrax turns delayed exporter payments into immediate opportunity, modernizing trade finance so global commerce can move at the speed it was always meant to.

Challenges we ran into
Building SEATrax was a continuous learning process that required both technical problem-solving and strong team collaboration. Our team came together through BlockDev.ID’s Kelas Rutin, and while 2 of our 4 members were new to Web3, we treated this as an opportunity rather than a limitation.
Throughout the learning process at BlockDev.ID, we actively learned from and consulted with mentors, using their feedback to refine our understanding of blockchain concepts, trade finance logic, and overall system design.
One of the biggest technical hurdles was designing and integrating smart contracts into a complete end-to-end flow. Integration across the frontend, backend, and on-chain components required multiple iterations and refactoring. We overcame this by breaking the system into smaller, testable components, validating each smart contract individually before integrating them into the full platform flow.
