Why are you participating for Based SEA?
We are participating to leverage the Base blockchain’s secure, low-cost infrastructure to bring the fun of a decentralized Sea Battle game to the Southeast Asian community. Our goal is to showcase how gaming can intersect with blockchain technology, offering users true ownership of in-game assets and transparent game outcomes.
What challenges are you focusing on?
The challenges we are focusing on include the lack of decentralized gaming platforms that ensure transparency in gameplay and true ownership of in-game assets. Additionally, we aim to address the limited availability of blockchain-based games in Southeast Asia, where there is a growing interest in crypto and decentralized technologies.
How does your submission address this challenge?
Our project brings a blockchain-based, play-to-earn (P2E) version of the classic Sea Battle game to the community. The use of the Base blockchain ensures transparent, fair, and tamper-proof gameplay. Additionally, all in-game assets, such as ships and ammunition, will be represented as NFTs, giving players ownership and the ability to trade or sell them on decentralized markets. This also introduces a new way for players to earn through gameplay.
Challenges we ran into
Some technical hurdles we faced include integrating NFT minting with the game logic and ensuring low gas fees for transactions on the Base blockchain. We overcame these by optimizing our smart contracts and utilizing the Layer 2 scalability features of Base. We also faced some challenges in creating a user-friendly interface that could easily interact with blockchain transactions, which we resolved through careful front-end design.
Additional Features
During the Buildathon, we added a feature allowing players to stake tokens to join games, with the winner receiving the pooled tokens. We also incorporated a real-time leaderboard and a random game feature for matching players against opponents globally.
