I am participating in Based Africa so that I can leverage this opportunity to build and promote decentralized solutions that empower communities here in Kenya and Africa in general. By integrating innovative technologies like blockchain and AI, I aim to enhance financial inclusion, streamline transactions, and provide access to essential services. Being part of Based Africa allows me to collaborate with like-minded individuals, share knowledge, ideas and essentially contribute to a thriving ecosystem that fosters economic growth and technological advancement across Kenya and the African continent in general.

What challenges are you focusing on?

Financial Access: Enhancing access to cryptocurrency by enabling direct purchases of base ETH from M-Pesa, making digital assets more accessible to everyone.

Financial Literacy: Promoting understanding of digital currencies and blockchain technology through an AI-powered chat interface, allowing users to engage in conversations and get answers to their financial questions effortlessly.

Transparency: Providing real-time notifications and updates through AI-linked smart wallets, fostering greater transparency in transaction tracking and management.

Easy Integration: Bridging the gap between blockchain and traditional finance by simplifying the process of using local payment systems like M-Pesa for cryptocurrency transactions.

MQR Pay addresses key challenges in our community by offering a streamlined solution that enhances financial access and literacy:

Direct M-Pesa Integration: By enabling users to purchase base ETH directly from their M-Pesa accounts, MQR Pay makes cryptocurrency accessible to a broader audience, particularly those who may not have previously engaged with digital currencies.

AI-Powered Financial Literacy: Our AI chat interface allows users to interact conversationally, asking questions about cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and transaction processes. Users can even inquire, "What's my balance?" to receive real-time updates on their smart wallet balance in both ETH and local currency, fostering a deeper understanding and confidence in using digital assets.

Real-Time Transparency: MQR Pay's AI-linked smart wallets provide users with instant notifications about their transactions. This transparency helps users track their finances and enhances trust in the platform.

Challenges I ran into

Time Constraints: Coordinating the development of MQR Pay within a limited timeframe proved challenging. To overcome this, I prioritized tasks and set realistic deadlines, allowing me to focus on essential features first.

Finding Skilled Team Members: Locating individuals well-versed in both AI and blockchain technology was difficult. To address this, I leveraged my network and engaged in online communities focused on these fields. This helped me connect with professionals who shared the vision for MQR Pay and were willing to offer valuable insights.

Technical Integration: Integrating AI capabilities with blockchain required careful planning and execution. I tackled this by breaking down the project into smaller components and conducting thorough research on best practices for integration. This methodical approach allowed me to address issues as they arose without derailing overall progress.

Through persistence and resourcefulness, I successfully navigated these hurdles and brought MQR Pay closer to fruition.
