Sahayika

the medium to connect NGOs and other helpful communities to help the rural females.

The problem Sahayika solves

Although we live in the 21st century, our rural women and school girls still face a lot of doubts and suffer dilemas regarding menstruation, puberty and overall female anatomy. A lot of NGOs, communities and individuals are ready to help them with knowledge, resources and finances. However, there is lack of communication and a medium to connect between the two bodies.
Sahayika, bridges the gap between school girls and such NGOs so that the NGOs can get in touch with large number of girls and organize workshops, talks, distribution of sanitary products and healthcare facilities.
The website Sahayika acts as the medium for NGOs and other non-profit organizations to reach and help thousands of rural women, especially young school girls. With Sahayika, the NGO or individuals acn register themselves with our portal, and offer help to needy schools.
How Website works:
By filling a simple volunteering form, the NGOs get audiences and:

1.Conduct sessions and talks aboout female anatomy.
2.Distribute sanitary and health-care products among rural school girls.
3.Train and encourage masses for women empowerment.

Both individuals and NGOs can register themselves on our site and offer all kinds pf help to girls.
If any school wants some financial help or educational talks from these NGOs, the head of school can fill a form and submit it on site.

To avoid plagiarism, we have made it mandatory for all schools, NGOs and individuals who register to submit their Aadhar card number or other Government verification id.

Challenges we ran into

With all four of us being from different colleges, it was difficult for us to manage project alongside college classes.
We faced difficulties in linking our forms with Django backend.
Working on the problem statement was also not easy. We spent hours contemplating upon the jargons and knitty-gritties of problems faced by rural women and how can our website help them in real time.
We decided to make our web page more creditable so we had to real time research for events and feedbacks.
Version control system was not easy at first. We spent hours resolving the merge conflicts.
However, in the end we got to learn a lot. We have a vivid vision of expanding this site to a usable cause in future by improving it.
