Empowering Women To Travel Carefree

The problem Safe Travel App solves

More often than not, women are put in the unfortunate situation to forgo opportunities due to safety concerns about traveling. Route planning maps like Google Maps only consider distance as a parameter for the most efficient route, ignoring the significant impediment thar danger during travel is. Furthermore, Google Maps gives road suggestions that lead to very narrow alleyways and sparsely populated areas, which are unsafe.

Our project considers the safety of the roads as well, by considering a plethora of parameters like width of road, population density, past crime rate in that area, proximity to emergency services, and user feedback, enabling women to travel independently with fewer worries.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, our attempts were aimed towards integrating Google Maps API, but to get the desired parameters and to attain workable values, we would ideally have to collaborate with the actual route travling apps, not to mention the credit carrd requirement. At this stage, we are working on a city network map that we have randomly simulate do demonstrate the working of our idea.
