The problem Run-based solves

1. Invisible Contributions - Members who host events, pace groups, or bring supplies often go unrecognized

2. Participation Drops - Without recognition, motivation to contribute beyond just showing up decreases

3. Community Fragmentation - Limited ways to celebrate achievements and build social connections

4. Organizer Burden - Club leaders struggle to track and acknowledge various forms of participation

The solution is a simple way to use NFTs to track onchain verifiable contributions and turn it into real incentives (water bottles/electrolytes/raffle tickets at the club), then ownership in the longer term. This cycle rewards contributors and encourages ownership of the community.

Challenges I ran into

1. Blockchain Migration Complexity

Challenge: Migrating from localStorage MVP to full blockchain implementation
Solution: Complete architectural overhaul with smart contract state management
Impact: Required rewriting all data persistence and user interaction patterns

2. Smart Contract Design Decisions

Challenge: Preventing gaming while maintaining user experience
Solution: Implemented soulbound (non-transferable) NFTs and daily contribution limits
Impact: Ensures achievement integrity while preventing exploitation

3. Gas Cost

Challenge: Frequent transactions could become expensive for users
Solution: Work with Base team to implement PayMaster, gas less transactions make a easy experience for new users
Impact: Reduced transaction costs and improved user experience, more trials

4. Wallet Integration UX

Challenge: Many running club members unfamiliar with crypto wallets
Solution: Implemented autologin
Impact: Smooth onboarding, no need to think about wallet signing in

5. Production Deployment and testing on main net

Challenge: no real way to test on testate with the base app
Solution: tested on main net
Impact: Successfully deployed to Base Mainnet with full functionality
