Why are you participating for Based Africa?

I’m participating in Based Africa because I believe blockchain technology can help solve real-world problems in Africa.

The continent is ready for innovation, especially in payments and trust-based systems, and RideBase aims to improve access to reliable transportation. Being connected to the region, I want to contribute to Africa’s tech growth by building solutions with new technologies like Base, making them useful for everyday people.

What challenges are you focusing on?

With RideBase, I’m focusing on Three major challenges:

  1. Creating employment oppourtunities.

  2. Educating & getting people started with blockchain on base .

  3. Payment accessibility.

In Africa unemployment is currently rate is at 64% , With RIDEBASE we aim at providing jobs for people locally and globally which will improved standard of living & economic growth. More over, empowering drivers to earn securely through a decentralised platform using Base ETH.

RideBase will onboard many local communities to blockchain using Base and reactivate inactive blockchain users.

Many people in my community struggle with traditional payment systems, and blockchain makes it easier for them to pay securely using Base ETH. There’s also a need for more transparency and trust in ride-booking services, and using blockchain helps create a system where payments and transactions are clear and trustworthy. Base makes all this possible by providing fast, low-cost transactions that anyone can use.

How does your submission address this challenge?

RideBase solves these challenges by allowing users to sign up with their Base names and pay for rides using Base ETH.

This makes payments easy, fast, and secure without relying on traditional banking systems. The app also ensures transparency, so users can trust that their transactions are safe and clear. By using blockchain, RideBase makes ride-booking more accessible and reliable, which can have a big impact in communities where trust in transportation and payments is low.
which will also create more job oppourtunities for many across the globe.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges I faced was integrating blockchain payments with Base ETH into the ride-booking system. Setting up wallet connections and ensuring smooth transactions was technically complex.

To overcome this, I used

wagmi

and

@mobile-wallet-protocol/wagmi-connectors

to streamline wallet integration, allowing users to connect and pay easily.

Another challenge was managing data fetching for rides and drivers in real time. I solved this by optimizing the API calls and using custom hooks to handle loading states, ensuring the app runs smoothly.

Lastly, balancing user experience with blockchain technology was tricky, but by simplifying the interface and focusing on ease of use, I made the app user-friendly even for people new to crypto.

Cheer Project

Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
