Unifying Crisis Response | Reliable. Resilient.

The problem RICOS solves

RICOS_PROTO_1 addresses the chaos and delays in crisis response caused by fragmented communication and lack of coordination across organizations. People use it to report incidents, track emergencies on a live map, and collaborate directly with responders, government, and NGOs, making relief efforts coordinated, faster, and safer for everyone involved.

It brings every stakeholder:- public, government, volunteers onto a single dashboard, reducing information silos and confusion.

Real-time updates and ground-level video feeds help decision-makers act without delays, improving safety and reliability.

AI-powered routing delivers the right teams to the right places, while multilingual chat support ensures no language barrier stands in the way of urgent collaboration.

Challenges we ran into

A major hurdle was building reliable real-time communication (WebSockets/HTTP sync) and making chat and geospatial updates instant and robust. Handling multilingual chat involved chaining third-party APIs, which often failed or returned poor translations. Resource routing delayed due to limited real-world data, so fallback logic and simulations were introduced for smarter dispatches.

When key bugs like duplicated messages or lost updates hit, problems were broken down into modules, tested with mock data, and refined through fast iteration and frequent feedback with contributors. Prioritizing edge-case testing kept issues manageable and project momentum steady.
