The problem Reunite solves
Reunite is an AI-driven platform that helps locate missing persons by leveraging facial recognition and public databases. It allows users to upload photos of missing individuals, which are then matched against various sources, including government records, social media, and CCTV footage. This solution simplifies the search process, providing faster and more accurate results to reunite families with their loved ones.
Challenges we ran into
Data Collection & Privacy: Gathering publicly available images while ensuring privacy compliance was a significant challenge. We tackled this by implementing strict data policies and working only with authorized sources.
Facial Recognition Accuracy: Matching faces across different lighting conditions and angles was difficult. We improved accuracy by training our AI model with diverse datasets and fine-tuning the algorithm.
Real-Time Search Efficiency: Processing large volumes of data in real time required optimization. We implemented cloud computing and parallel processing to handle search queries faster.
