The problem reStyle solves
Platform Overview
The platform provides an easy way for users to give their old clothes a new life and for others to access affordable, pre-owned apparel. Here's how it works:
Selling Items
Users can upload photos and descriptions of their pre-owned apparel to sell them. The platform provides an instant price estimate, and a delivery agent performs a quality check at the user's doorstep before the final price is set and the item is collected.
Buying Items
Shoppers can purchase items that are listed on the marketplace for direct resale or those that have been redesigned by the platform's design team. The platform offers an affordable way to access stylish and quality fashion while promoting sustainable consumption.
Upcycling/Redesigning
The platform offers creative upcycling services for clothing. After a product is evaluated at the warehouse, it can be redesigned by a design team and then listed on the marketplace. This process promotes sustainability by extending product life and reducing waste.
Challenges we ran into
Hurdles Faced During the Project
-
Implementing the complex product listing process, which involves collecting the item from the customer, performing quality checks to decide pricing, and then reviewing whether it should be redesigned or listed directly for sale.
-
Managing the storage and display of product images, including replacing old images with updated ones when products are redesigned.
-
Integrating the complete workflow: a user uploads a product for sale, it appears on the manager’s dashboard, then moves to the assigned delivery agent’s dashboard, returns to the manager’s portal for review, and if approved for redesign, the product details are updated before being listed live.
-
Developing the cart feature to ensure that products added remain intact and consistent even when navigating between different pages.
-
Supporting multiple products within a single order, allowing users to purchase more than one item at once.
