Respect.Games addresses fundamental challenges in community governance and contribution recognition that plague both traditional organizations and digital communities.

Communities today struggle with three critical problems:

Ineffective Governance Systems: Most communities rely on static centralized decision-making or token-weighted voting that gives power to the wealthiest members rather than to the most valuable, engaged and knowledgeable contributors. This leads to governance capture, misaligned incentives, poor decision-making and diminished community engagement.

Poor Contribution Recognition: Communities lack standardized, transparent ways to evaluate and reward valuable work. This results in burnout among active contributors who feel underappreciated, while free-riders benefit without contributing.

Technical Barriers to DAO Formation: Creating a decentralized autonomous organization requires significant technical expertise and resources. Many communities want the benefits of decentralized governance but lack the tools to implement it effectively.

Respect.Games solves these problems by providing:

1. Democratic Governance Infrastructure: The app implements a fractal democracy model where reputation (Respect) is earned through peer evaluation rather than wealth, creating a governance system with high quality decision-makers and resilience to capture.
2. Fair Contribution Evaluation: Through weekly games, community members submit their contributions and collaboratively rank each other's work. This creates a transparent, peer-reviewed record of impact that forms the basis for both reputation and rewards.
3. Automated Economic System: The platform issues two types of tokens - non-transferable RESPECT (ERC-1155) as a reputation measure, and a customizable liquid token (ERC-20) for rewards - with distribution automated based on contribution rankings.
4. Simplified DAO Formation: Any community can create their own Respect.Game DAO in minutes without technical expertise. The app handles all complexity, from token creation to council formation to treasury management.

By transforming evaluation of contributions into an engaging weekly game, Respect.Games creates vibrant communities where valuable work is recognized, incentives are aligned, and governance truly represents those who contribute most meaningfully to the community's mission.

Challenges I ran into

Overcoming Gas Sponsorship Challenges:

One significant obstacle we encountered was implementing reliable gas sponsorship for transactions. Initially, we integrated ZeroDev for sponsoring user transactions, but this approach led to inconsistent results with some transactions failing completely.

To address this issue, I carefully analyzed the integration points and ultimately decided to remove the ZeroDev integration entirely while implementing a more direct approach to transaction handling. This immediate fix has improved reliability, but we're actively exploring integration with Coinbase Developer Platform's paymaster and bundler tools to provide a more robust, long-term solution for gas sponsorship.

The challenge required balancing immediate fixes with longer-term architectural improvements, all while maintaining an accessible user experience that doesn't burden users with technical complexities of gas management. This experience highlighted the importance of thorough integration testing with third-party services and the need for fallback mechanisms when dealing with transaction sponsorship.
